Decathlon welcomes Julien Leclercq as new Chairman of the Board
Decathlon, a global leading sports brand, is pleased to announce the appointment of Julien Leclercq as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors, succeeding Fabien Derville, who has held the position since 2018. The leadership transition will officially take place on March 10.
During his tenure, Fabien guided Decathlon through a period of remarkable growth and transformation. Under his tenure, in partnership with Decathlon’s CEO, the company launched key initiatives, including new brand approach, advancements in the circular economy, streamlined brand portfolios, and innovative sales formats like B2B, franchising, and urban stores. These efforts have solidified Decathlon's position as a pioneer in accessible, sustainable sports.
Julien Leclercq brings a unique blend of experience, passion, and vision to his new role. A seasoned Decathlon leader with a career spanning multiple countries and disciplines, Julien began as a department manager in Spain and progressed through roles including store manager in Belgium and founder of Decathlon’s operations in Singapore. His entrepreneurial ventures outside Decathlon, including leading Genairgy’s active travel investment fund and co-creating Decathlon Travel, further reflect his dynamic leadership style.
